LESSONS UNLEARNED

LESSONS UNLEARNED

A Poem by Jeff Bresee

LESSONS UNLEARNED

The further I go
The worse I get
At what I do
And what I let

Destroy my peace
And set me back
Defining well
The things I lack

You'd think I'd learn
You'd think I'd see
The damage done
By being me

The
trail of tears
The bridges burned
So many lessons
Left unlearned

I understand all of it so very well...many a times we just think that now that's it we are not repeating that mistake again and yet so many times you find yourself trapped in the same situation again and again...no matter what and however hard it is one has to let go...the poem shows you are aware that every incident is to teach us a lesson and hence you already know how it all works...all you have to is let go...

Your words are so true. Sometimes lessons are hard to learn.

Very abrupt and to the point. Well said in so few words. There is so much to be learned by these words you have strung together so favorably. Well done. I can certainly empathize with the sentiment expressed.

I'm much better then my days of youth. I shut my mouth before allowing things that can't be repaired. The face and body movement still get me in trouble. Somethings we are born with and must do our best to control our emotion. A excellent poem.

If we could only listen to and understand ourselves we could truly change the world for the better. Well done.

Ha, so true. Regret just sucks.

I think we all fit into this mold Jeff and yes we all have much to learn. One thing I wanted to express here is that damage is not necessarily through 'being ourselves' as we are too often set upon by others...if we live long enough we can usually come up with a reason for everything...in hindsight!
Nicely done, it packs a punch :-)

Cheers,

Helen~
