The Common Depression

The Common Depression

A Poem by Nyanachi

A soul warm with light
Is hidden under layers of dirt where others have tread.
Somewhere there is something that purifies.
A star dies in the black sky.

A heart strong with love
Is denied by unreal fears of people who make it feel.
Somewhere there is something that validates.
A river sinks on the dry land.

Because we don't always give the soul and the heart what they need.
Instead we value physical beauty.
But our skeletons don't change.
Instead we crave dirty money.
When there won't be enough for others.
Instead we let society lock us up.

I'm here to shut it all down and march on through to the other side.
Stop signing up for war and selling your skill to filthy corporations.
We are better than these sad excuses,
I am a believer in what humanity induces.
I'll rise up, not against.

This is awesome. I actually can't get over it. What's on the inside is more important than what's on the outside. You are a very deep & powerful writer and I like what you you have to say. Too many great lines to mention. Outstanding job.
