A Kuni's Oath

Inspired by the awesome table top game " Legend of the Five Rings "

Welcome brothers in the unending vigil
To endure in the face of the dark will

In cold twilight and against the shadow

Strength from the stone we shall borrow

No taint can stand under the jades blaze

Just as no corruption must escape our gaze

No shadow can hide from the emerald light

Just as there no evil shall we fear to fight

Our sacred charge to shield and guard

An oath we keep even with spirit scarred

A duty with flesh and blood we uphold

A vow for which life and spirit we have sold

Feared and hated we may be we must endure
for sword against the taint we must secure
Never shall a price be too high for our goal
be it our lives our sanity even our soul

So long as the Kuni have their quest

No taint nor shadow will know rest
No darkness will escape the Kunis Wrath
This is our destiny our purpose our path

Author's Note

this is what i imagine the oath of an initiate shugenja of the kuni family would take before devoting everything against the taint.. their lives are a given but their cause often asks for more than that.. their humanity even their soul.. such sacrifices tragedy are sadly not uncommon for those of their calling...
