You asked me to meet you

And then you did not show

Then -- didn’t want to know.

I waited so long for you

Aching ----- for your touch.

You never came, I did not know

That pain ----could hurt ---- so much.

 

You promised ---that forever

Your love, --would be mine

Now you never hold me

and I’m crying all the time

To see you with another

Breaks my heart in two

Still, my mind can not believe

That you -- and I -- are through.

 

Was I just ---some toy to you

That you could pull apart?

Why did you forsake me,

Why did you break my heart?

I believed your promise

When you took me to your room,

I gave my heart -- you took my love

Now I swell with ----passion’s bloom.

 

You’re a love thief, --- a love thief

You’re nothing but a love thief.

Winning hearts, destroying them

Then on your way you go!

Love thief – love thief!

You stinking, - rotten love thief.

You won my heart -- stole my love

Now you don’t want to know!

Jen, I continue to be mesmerized by your writing...this is another wonderful, sadly beautiful poem that evokes sympathetic heartache. You convey so powerfully, so effectively, the pain you suffered at the hands of a callous man who treated your heart cavalierly.
