Gone

Gone

A Poem by Jen Marks
"

I wrote this song about my grandfather. He passed away just over a year ago.

"

[VERSE:]

Feels like a month

Went by so fast

Now that you're gone

The pain is sure to last

I don't want this truth

To haunt my memories

...This catastrophe

[CHORUS:]

Is it too late to tell you

I love you, I miss you

I can't live without you?

Now that you're gone

My words are broken

These words unspoken

Now I see that you

Are no longer here

When I need you, I miss you

But although you're gone

I won't ever say goodbye

'Cause I know that you are with me inside

[VERSE:]

I remember when

You held my hand

You held me close

Said, "Understand

That times get rough

Just keep on hanging on

...Be stong"

[CHORUS:]

Is it too late to tell you

I love you, I miss you

I can't live without you?

Now that you're gone

My words are broken

These words unspoken

Now I see that you

Are no longer here

When I need you, I miss you

But although you're gone

I won't ever say goodbye

'Cause I know that you are with me inside

[CHORUS:]

Is it too late to tell you

I love you, I miss you

I can't live without you?

Now that you're gone

My words are broken

These words unspoken

Now I see that you

Are no longer here

When I need you, I miss you

But although you're gone

I won't ever say goodbye

'Cause I know that you are with me inside

I know that you are with me inside

A wonderful flow of words and thoughts dear Jen. I could feel the song in the words. I liked the honest tone of the words. Wanting, crying and praying, we shall do. A nice ending to the outstanding poetry.

YOUR WORK IS VERY NICE. NOTHING WE DO IS ANY THING BUT WORK OF ART. WE ARE ALL UNIQUE IN OUR (1PER) PERSON WAY GOD INTENDED. IF WE WERE ALL THE SAME IT WOULD BE A BORING WORLD.

This is so lovely. I lost my grandma in October 2013, so I understand your pain. Losing someone you're close to is never easy.

great song. i know it really has to touch a lot of people no matter what the situation is. For me it reminds me of my grandmother who I lost when I was six. She was the closest grandparent to me and my memory of her still leaves me in tears.

:-) this piece is lovely. The wonderful thing about lyrics is the interpretation given by the song. Singing is story telling. I read your heart into the verses and so added much depth to the words.

The feelings you tell here are felt a thousand times a minute around the world but that doesn't make them mundane or less important. These feelings are important because they show real connection and real loss. One must be willing and vulnerable to feel and say such things.

Good write.

Jen, I love to read your work. You are a wonderfully bright and radiant addition to the world. This is the best thing of yours I have ever read. Speaking to the writing, born of talent and pain. Shine on lady. t.
