The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by jenna

My eyes are a drought waiting to pass

It’s like a hot summer’s day where you yearn for the ocean

Dryness like the desert

Yet I wait for a thunderstorm

The clouds will slowly form and build up

Then crash on me in a moment’s notice

An uncontrollable monsoon as my mind begins to thunder

Thunder of inadequacy and abandonment

Flood of regret and burden

Yet when the thunderstorm surpasses

The surplus amounts of rain dry

The clouds dissipate

All that is left- a dry, chapped smile

Waiting for the next storm to occur
