jekyll/hyde/gaslight.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

words fail
and life crumbles
when everything
i
thought i was
is shown to me
in your mirror:

i
am the beast
and i am the horror
who is always the one
who causes the rift
and never the one
who heals it

and
the sooner i (wo)man up
and realise these
apparently
inalienable truths,
the sooner
you can be happy

but how do i
squelch the monster
who lives inside me
when i didn’t even know
she existed?

oh yes, what a play on both movies...i picture that awful feeling of looking in the mirror and knowing where the blame lies...but then the not remembering why it should be there...as Ingrid Bergman wondering where that necklace went...or why that picture was moved.
