A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)
"

i wish they had a writing type called "thing"

"
i ache to write. it itches along the sides of my fingers, hiding in the curve of cuticles like a slip of peanut butter i neglected to lick off. i want to pour myself over and over into words that will begin to have meaning as they are formed on my page - because right now they are merely a messed up jumble of longing, loss, and the need to be held like i was when i was young, and the monsters were big and lived in closets. the monsters are still just as big, but they have vacated the closet for a much more comfortable residence amongst the curlicues of my brain. there’s more to feed on there, and my far too introspective thoughts keep their bellies round and so full you can bounce a quarter off of them. not to say i want a saviour, a knight in shining pleather (because let’s face it, the price of base metals these days is far too high to reasonably expect your average heart to afford), to come along and rescue me. i don’t need rescuing, i just need to be held through the worst of it, to be told everything is actually as it should be, and all the unhappinesses and ridiculous moments of rampant stupidity i am prone to are merely the dress rehearsals for the life i’ve yet to live. after all, the worst dress rehearsals make for the best opening nights. ask anyone on broadway, they’ll tell you i’m right

Good gravy this was good! You're right, you don't need rescuing.
"a knight in shining pleather (because let’s face it, the price of base metals these days is far too high to reasonably expect your average heart to afford), to come along and rescue me." oh so clever.

My dearest Jen. How I have missed you for the reason above. I loooooove extemporaneous delivery of thought. And you never fail to quench my thirst for pure writing. Hilarity and sincerity dance across this vast whiteness of potential you call a page with such ease. It is no wonder you ache to fill your veins with ink. I sigh with relief. For you have just scratched my itch. Thank you senorita!

Your life is blessed with what you offer with your sweetness

honesty makes for great writing, and this is great

You don't need anyone to tell you anything...sounds like you have that part down...just people to listen, something some of us haven't done a very good job of lately. Dress rehearsal or not, it is your life and it is a beautiful life, nothing can change a frame of mind and yours is framed perfectly. When you can think as clearly as you wrote this piece, I have no worries about your emotional survival, only the perception of yourself that is currently reflecting back from mirrored waters that may be distorting the image. Keep writing stuff like this....its amazing, I will lobby the site to make a new category cuz this is a good "thing".

Good grief Jenny! How could such things just come off the top? Your emotions always wrestle me to the ground and force me to submit. Remind me to stay on your good side...I think that having you pound on me would be far more pleasant than anything you would have to say! :p

love it! felt every brilliant word. though, the neglected peanut butter metaphor was my fave! fugax!

I laughed aloud at the following: ' (because let’s face it, the price of base metals these days is far too high to reasonably expect your average heart to afford), ' but from the start - apart from gasping at your use of language, of imagination, i wanted to reach out and hug the emotions dripping from every line. Think you wrote this with a pen dipped in tears rather than ink .. makes me feel, deeply.
