My Life Blood

My Life Blood

A Poem by jennilouhoo

Sticky sweet and scarlet red,
my innocence has been misled.
What's the point in staunching the bleeding
when my whole heart is still seething?
Looking out with starry eyes,
I found demons to make me writhe.
Insecurities and flaws that bring me to me knees
couldn't help but get the best of me.
A gaping wound to my head
leaving me close to dead.
This dagger residing in my chest
will never let me rest.
I am the only one to blame
as my life blood shows my shame.
