A Waiting Nation

A Waiting Nation

A Poem by Jenny

We cry and pray for change

But never say what should stay the same

Waiting for someone who will disengage

Someone who feels our rage

And then a man stands

One with promise in his hands

Will he serve the way we say?

Or find a way to a different place?

Will he upset what used to be?

Wreak havoc in our city streets

Bring barren to the countryside

and ruin as wide as the sky

He will upset our complacency.

This change may feel like loss

But will it be the battle or the war?

That’s for you to explore

But, I implore

you to remember the next time you wish for more

Think of what could be in store

if you don't think before

YOU don’t stand

and let someone give you the backhand

Yeah, sometimes when you wish to much. Much turns up with a vengeance. But i must admit. I quite like people who twit their whole daily life. Just come out the toilet, oh, and just nuked North Korea. Both these statements could have you running for cover.

Standing for your thoughts is always a risk - walking your talk always carries a price...

taking risks is what we live for isnt it?
This isn't a 'told you so' write - it's a lament for a way of life that already seems so distant as to be almost mythical.
It's a clarion call for change - for the better - and against voter apathy.
It could almost be the manifesto of a third way.
We feel your pain - even here in the UK.
Well written piece Jenny.

This poem seems to cover how many people feel about Trump and the restrictions put on our country lately. Along with the banning of innocent people that can one day rage war. This is a wonderful poem

Thought provoking write. One man does not run the American government. The senate and congress vote on most everything that is passed or turned down. Pray his advisers have some intelligence. Valentine
