Accidental

Accidental

A Poem by jessicamarie19

I accidentally saw you today
Accidentally
Heard words that you read from pages of gold
In a voice of coal and thought
Accidentally
That this was mediocre
That your “poems”
(accidental quotations)
Were puns in rows
Of philosophical prose and you
Read
Which we know
- is mediocre
And I continued to listen
accidentally
Spent away the time I had saved for my rhyme
Entranced by the words that you read
I cried accidental tears for your passion
And sat in awe of the genius you
Fashion from our words that were once mediocre
Syllabic perfection of wisdom reflected
In a voice that isn’t so bad afterall
Six pieces in…
And I’m accidentally in love with you now.

The last line packs the punch:-) Isn't this often how it goes? You "accidentally" learn that you like someone, then love someone, then can't live without 'em, etc. The first line drew me in, and, as the story unfolds, I find myself both intriqued and slightly amused in the middle. I would list some of my fave lines, but, then again, there are several: 1, 3, 6-10, 19, 21....heck, I like the whole thing:-)
