On this day...

On this day...

A Poem by Jessie

On this day...

All stood back and let her pass slowly by
Not a whisper was heard, not even a sigh
Silence was about, a moment so quiet and still
The pain that was surging through her
the whole room could feel

As she reached the front of the church
Her eyes wailed up with tears
The memories raced of times together
now gone... All those precious years

No hesitation was made as she looked
him in the eyes as he stood beside his future
wife to be precise
She quietly spoke.....
"For all the years I stood by you and the
pain you put me through.. for raising
your children, and doing what I was suppose
to do! I only felt it right for me to be here on this
special day, to be the one walking in front of her
To lead the way! and to congradulate you both!
For today your lives together begin...
Unlike mine, it has just came to an end".....

On this day!

This reminds me of the birth of Sleeping Beauty when everyone is invited to the Happy Occasion to bless the new child with gifts, but the fairy or witch or whatever who wasn't invited shows up and places this curse on the baby and pretty much ruins the party. While her words are those of congratulations, this is a curse in disguise. Look at the life and time we had and are now gone, don't think it won't happen to you. I like what this piece implies more than what it says. "I only felt it right for me to be here on this special day, to be the one walking in front of her To lead the way" Good Job!
