learn.

learn.

A Poem by Lady Lazarus.

 are you coming out today?

I dance through trousers and dresses

meet my eyes in the mirror and weep

Do not touch

This is something not meant to be felt

and if you'd been young in those days you wouldn't be young now.

And the time is now.

you're gonna have to sink or swim

Its better to be a non swimmer

the shallow end of the pool is safe

until a young one chokes and dies

still floating with water wings as his mother cries

I will learn

I will learn to swim

Look at your face and can't understand

these days will age those who are the most childish at heart

5am and crying into a tear sodden pillow case

some musician plays to the ship sinking under the waves

the captain stands awaiting the inevitable

I will learn

I will learn to swim

belligerent people wherever I go

I grow fond of you but a smack sets me right

No need to ever escape or formulate a solution

I will leave this place a peculiar nuisance

can't convey the hopelessness no longer

Its best to just push the chair away

I'm not alive

Jut wasting time that someone else would spend much wiser

I will learn

I hope.

There's something about this poem, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just really moves. Definitely reminds me of The Smiths, and Morrissey was a great lyricist. And the rhythm's absolutely gorgeous.

this is quite strong and depressive
I'm not alive
Jut wasting time that someone else would spend much wiser
I will learn
I hope.
belligerent people wherever I go
I grow fond of you but a smack sets me right
No need to ever escape or formulate a solution
I will leave this place a peculiar nuisance
can't convey the hopelessness no longer
Its best to just push the chair away
i will leave this place hopless ,i will just push the chair,oh very desperate as i see
these days will age those who are the most childish at heart

5am and crying into a tear sodden pillow case
yes its a very rotten world but this is so bitter, you really made me sad
its talk of someone who sees everything black ,everything not worth living
this is so dark writing ,i thought there is no one more hopeless than me
but now i see there is...i was really sad to read this

Burn with "I will learn"!

We humans are more into saying that than really engaging it, but your poem moves with an active intent.

We're all PROCESSES, and that's probably enough to free us from our stuck over-objectifications, if we take it seriously. Our redemption is that we are not who we commonly think we are. There is only LIFE moving through changes. Death is just identifying with stasis.

Lady Lazarus learning is indomitable Spirit. A burning attentiveness cannot be buried with shovel and dirt.

This was beautiful!!! Absolutely brilliant! Excellent work!!!
My favorite part was:
"some musician plays to the ship sinking under the waves
the captain stands awaiting the inevitable
I will learn
I will learn to swim"

That part was really neat. It reminded me of titanic.
I loved this poem!

It's been a while since a poem has left me speechless. This is one of the best poems I've read in a very long time. I can also say that this touched me very deeply. Isn't that the true goal of writing? It reminds me far too much of myself. Simply amazing.

"Look at your face and can't understand
these days will age those who are the most childish at heart
5am and crying into a tear sodden pillow case
some musician plays to the ship sinking under the waves
the captain stands awaiting the inevitable
I will learn
I will learn to swim"
