Red

Red

A Poem by jex

The morning of the next day,
A bright sun lit the sky,
Almost as if there never was a dawn
I quietly shrugged off sleep,
Looking forward to the new day
Looking forward to the last day of my life
In the greens of the pleasant valley,
Life was flush and flowing,
Never more than a footstep away from the house
The day was spent with friends and family,
Hours flew by as we all talked,
Laughed,
Connected
Eventually the day began to change,
The sun began to set in the sky,
Changing the green to an ugly bloodspilt red
I knew this was my dying day
Slowly but surely,
All color escaped the night,
As I was left alone in the house again,
To surely face my inevitable doom
As the hour drew near,
I wrote one last letter to my beloved,
And slept next to her one last night,
Hoping that whatever horror came closer,
Would be quenched of thirst after bloody death came upon me
