Far Away

Far Away

A Poem by Sarah Katherine

One’s okay, the other’s not.
You think they’re both insane.
Just because they look alike,
you think they share a brain
The one that looks mad,
is the one who’s not sad.
The one who looks bright,
is the one not all right.

You’re always looking out,
and never once inside.
You ignore the deepest parts of us,
the things we want to hide.

I guess it’s nice,
you never guess twice,
at what’s within,
our deepest sins.

You don’t look,
‘cause you’re afraid,
you pretend that it will fade.

But as she grows,
away she goes.
Far away.
She couldn’t stay.

How could she
with everything inside?
But please know,
she really tried.

She wanted to stay,
now she’s so far away.
She can’t come home,
so now she’s alone.

Sounds like a story of a broken friendship. And looks like the persona was not given the attention she deserved. The other person judged the book by the cover. I am uncertain of the tone though, I can feel both regret and neglect in the poem. Nice work
