Reign in Wisdom

Reign in Wisdom

A Poem by Audrey Bruckner

Silence is a virtue

that can cause blue eyes to water

falling like words out of unspoken sentences

quick upon the black veil drops

no mercy for those who give everything

no perks for those deserving

dressing to kill in dreamland

carried into a new day by the clock

causing no haven for simple men

but pain becomes pleasure

if the ride leaves a sould numb

whereas a feeling soul loses pleasure

to guilt at the end of the road

reign in wisdom

only if it is dashed with ignorance

and dancing with stupidity

for wisdom cannot be had

without mistakes of blind courage

and above all else

pray for a heart completed

not by a dreamed dreamer

rather by a lost independent piece of self
