Wide Awake (a poem)

 

I look at my clock

It’s 5 am and I’m wide awake

Because of all the things you say

It hits me like a rock

 

I’m sitting on my bed

And the sun’s not up

I think I’m beginning to fall in love

When I saw you in my head

 

Because I had a dream

That you and me

Were meant to be

No matter how weird it may seem

 

I’m so hooked on your words

That I can’t sleep

Being overwhelmed in your verbal heat

But it doesn’t hurt

 

I’m speechless to say

That when I woke up today

I never thought I’d be so wide awake

To you and how much it means that you’re there

Author's Note

Once again: No particular form. Usually I write using song form when I write poetry because, to me, they are songs. And I enjoy writing music. But I hope you like it and you can relate. :)

I`m glad this has no particular form. I don`t understand why people felt the need to add structure and rules to writing. It`s art and should be seen for the way it comes out! this is a beautiful piece though, reminds me of the first time you wake up to a new beau beside you and you feel complete contentment. this is funny because the new man in my life & I talk at 5 am everyday online. He is the Army in Afg right now, he is leaving end of July after 9 month mission there! I can't wait to see him Sigh!! Great poem!
