Musings of an Abandoned Lover

Musings of an Abandoned Lover

A Poem by Fergie

But was it fate
That had me so inclined
To look upon your face
And yearn to see my future
Within your features
And your lines?

Or was it foolery,
And this burden of childish dreams
That had me believe
That your eyes,
In fleeting moments,
Had promised forever?

And is it cruelty
That a thousand miles now stand between us
Leaving me nothing but
Unsaid words
Which have left my heart lost
In dreaming?

...Or was it all a lie?

That was stunningly written! You managed to say what would take me 10 pages in such short, poetic form, full of emotion and question, wonderful display of power in a writing.

This is a beautiful poem, with tough questions, and heartfelt emotion.
