Whatever You Do

Whatever You Do

A Poem by Joel
"

A poem for my only love.

"

Whatever you do

Don’t take your eyes off me

Don’t let your thoughts of me

Stale and wander off

If you should wake first

Don’t take the sheets off me

Don’t let me dream too easily

Of brighter skies

If I’m to be worth

Anything I’ll spend it for you

All my blood bled for you

My sweat to the sand

If faster days

Should catch us all unawares

Send us from here to there

Don’t let go my hand

Oh my love

Let us hold the ground

Partial to remain

With the one we found

First thing's first: best. Bio. EVER.

Now that that's out of the way, this piece reads like a prayer whispered in a lover's ear. The fear of someone's thoughts of us "growing stale" is a fear (I believe) everyone holds deep down inside. This poem is very relatable to many and yet, somehow, it still manages to seem like a private vow. Well done.
