Was It Worth it

Was It Worth it

A Poem by That_Guy
"

Words hurt, but not as much as I do when you hurt me

"
Was it worth it?
You talked your s**t,
Barked out words meant to cut
Then walked off and slammed the door shut.

Big dog now, walking tall,
Expecting me to lay down or fall.
You must not know me or who I am,
Because now I’m coming and I don’t give a damn.

The door didn’t even slow me down,
You’ll choke on those words or maybe drown.
Before you know it I’m in your face,
Your bark is big but my bite shakes the place.

Unleashed, undone, unruly, and unafraid.
You have no clue what you have done,
Maybe your talk to you was fun,
But now you’ll have to answer for that fit,
So tell me man, was it worth it?

Sorry for the expletive, but it needed to be put in. I'm really a nice guy but don't mistake my kindness for weakness

no problem buddy
This is my favorite so far- It's effortless. It has an easy way about it. I can tell this one came from a place that was real instead of being something you wanted to write about. This was something that you HAD to write about. I can hear the your footsteps coming toward the poor b*****d- feel the tension in the air- forgive the pun, but this is kick a*s :) Going in my favorites.

I absolutely HAD to write this one. it was very real and I'm glad I got that across.

Yep. The urgency and clarity is unmistakable.
This is... emotional. I'm not really sure what words to use to describe it. It expresses anger in each word, as if each letter is a slap to the face. It isn't as eloquent or magical as some, but still... just wow. It's great. I had to read it a few times, just because it has such power.

Yeah, that made no sense..

But the language, the emotion, everything was well done without going over the top.

Nice write!

hah I appreciate that
kindness is not a weakness and a good curse word is always fitting when expressing yourself, its needed and does not take away from who you are in your core. Good poem, I would change only one thing...Your bark is big but my bite shakes..leave the rest out, it rolls better off the tongue that way and it also states your dominance in the situation. You are the big dog after all :)
