A Poem by joshua deathdealer
"

12/2011

"
The darkness that washes over this barren land
besets my course, bringing my advancements to
a screeching halt, held at bay by the demoniac
spirits that trample the corridors of my thoughts

Pushed backwards and under the blacken waves
of negative energy that is building around me,
snaring my ankles, pulling me downward in oily
depths that structure this image that I dwell

Every light of hope is snuffed as malignity grows
over the blue skies that once were, here I am,
lost without you in a world of my own creation,
displaced in a shade of eternal stagnant gray

I will still trod towards the warmth on the
unsteady horizon, memories of you will push
my bruised feet forwards, guiding my broken
heart closer to the one that it still beats for

We move on because we must. There is no tomorrow sometimes-there is only one breath and then the next one and so on--but as we put one foot in front of the other, over time, we find that we have created a path and often it leads to unexpected places--keep trodding my friend

poignant - even though the imagery is brutal - dark - there is that lift at the end. I will keep going.
Well done.

Keep heading towards that light my friend. Your poem reflects a deep sadness but therein lies it's beauty. Well put. And thank you.

So very sweet, and the picture as well.
Love this line:
"lost without you in a world of my own creation,"
as well as the last stanza, very nice ending.
Enjoyed.

You basically blew me away with the last stanza. We all have a reason to live that one extra day, no matter if we want to or not. Sometimes it's a person, an idea, a hope. You really have excelled since you first came to the cafe; I can say that with excitement because I look forward to more! :)

Wow--this is moving in a primordial, spiritual sense. The flow of words is perfect to set the somber tone of a broken heart bleeding for the one it loves, or lost (or both). The way you go through tragedies, and life afterwards is only one step at a time, one painful breath after another--this piece captures that very well. It also captures a sense of yearning: nurturing hope that there even is hope at all. That's a very true part of life, and it's very skillfully portrayed here. Great penmanship :)
