Drink of a Heartbreak

Drink of a Heartbreak

A Poem by Dream Slave

"Give me one more"
said I reaching for it
for my heart was sore
Not being able to take it

So I drank to forget
Not believing it could happen again
Drink of a Heartbreak
Trying to forget about her

Everyone gathered and stared
Some even talked
As again I repeated
The statement that had them amazed

"I will drink 'til the last drop
And I will remember no more"
On my hand was the blood
From the broken sharpened cup

And they all watched in awe
As in liquor and in blood I forgot
