Chapter 21

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo in her living room, looking at her laptop. Priscilla and Reuben enter. Priscilla says "Hey. It's not too late for visitors is it?"
Indigo says "Door wasn't locked was it?"
"Everything good?"
"My dad spoke to Sabrina today."
Reuben says "The teenage witch? I love her."
"Summer's mom."
"Melissa Joan Hart is Summer's mom?"
Priscilla says "Drinking does kill the brain cells. Don't be stupid. She's not, right?"
Indigo says "No. Summer's mom is called Sabrina."
"And your dad spoke to her? What did she say?"
"Told him that a family emergency took them away but they're back now and she expects to see me soon."
Reuben says "That's good, isn't it?"
"Not sure."
Priscilla says "Do you think she knows about the game you two are playing?"
"Yes."
"Did she say anything else? Could have been sending you a clue."
"Summer's an event planner. Been looking into that since I got home."
"Any luck?"
"There's hundreds and I have tried searching her name."
Reuben says "Maybe I can help?"
"If it involves putting my face on video screens, no thanks."
"Worked didn't it? I can ask Calvin."
Priscilla says "Who?"
"The DJ at Aphrodites. He'd know the event people. I'll text him now."
Indigo says "Thank you."
Priscilla says "What happens if you find her by your deadline?"
"We talk on my terms. I told you this."
"Will I still get to meet your brother?"
"Of course."
"Don't be forgetting us."
"Wouldn't dare. hey, Reuben, did you see who Iona was argueing witht he other night?"
Reuben says "What night? And why would I have seen?"
"When you made me a movie star, she was argueing with Summer."
"I didn't know she was out. She wouldn't of let me do that. How do you know about it?"
"It was caught on video."
"Show us."
"No. I can't."
Priscilla says "Why not?"
"Technically it's a client's footage. Besides, you can on;t see the back of her head. DJ friend replied?"
Reuben says "He said he'll look into it."
"Tell him thank you."
"I will when I see him, and only if he's helpful. I'll forward you what I can."
Priscilla says "you do know there's a timeframe on this?"
"Lesbians. Always in a rush. Fine, I'll go talk to him now."
"Because you have a problem with that?"
"Use it while you got it."
Reuben leaves. "What is it?"
Indigo says "What what?"
"You're worrying about something."
"I'll be seeing her in under twenty four hours. I'm scared."
"She found you. She wants to see you. At least you can get everything out there."
"What if I want more from her than she's willing to give, or she wants more from me?"
"What if the sky turns green and it starts raining jelly beans? you can't worry about what ifs. Whatever happens, we'll be there for you." Priscilla closes Indigo's laptop and puts it on the table. "You look worn out. Get to bed. You want to be looking your best when you see her. Show her what she's been missing."
"I've still got work tomorrow."
"Then your assistant is your guide to how good you look. Do you want me to stay?"
"I'll be ok."
"Sure?" Indigo nods. "You let me know how it goes with your search and I'll see you tomorrow."
Priscilla leaves. Indigo goes and locks the door. "Don't worry about the what ifs? Easy for her to say. She doesn't worry about the it wills."
Indigo goes upstairs.
