Chapter 30

Chapter 30

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo sat at a table drinking. Reuben walks over, sits down, grabs a drink and says "Hey, pretty lady. Why are you on your own?"
Indigo says "Because horny and hornier are dry humping to music." Reuben tries not to choke on his drink. "Anyway, where the hell have you been?"
"I had a request for the DJ."
"Will it be honoured?"
"Right there in the booth."
"I have no words."
"Neither did he." Indigo laughs. "Where's your friend? Or shouldn't I ask?"
"I don't know. But she promised to find me."
"When was that?"
"And you're not storming around trying to find her?"
"Tonight we play by her rules."
"When have you ever played by anyone's rules but your own?"
"I'm a lawyer. Rules are kind of my thing."
Silvain comes over and says "Rosie will be with you shortly. She's sorry to keep you waiting."
Reuben says "Rosie?"
Indigo says "Summer."
Silvain says "Wouls you like me to give her a message?"
"No, thank you. Why don't you stay and have a drink with us?"
Reuben holds out his hand and says "I'm Reuben."
Silvain says "I'm not interested."
Silvain walks away. "That was direct."
Indigo says "Don't even think about it."
"What?"
"You know what."
"But you know I like a challenge."
Silvain says "I'm more than a challenge. I'm a quest."
Reuben chokes on his drink. Summer says "Don't mind him. He's such a diva when he's been working."
"That's because my boss is a tyrant."
Reuben says "Staying for a drink this time?"
Summer says "Indigo?"
"She offered first. Sit down."
Silvain sits down and grabs a drink. "Indigo?"
Indigo says "Just wondering how long before you have to run off again."
Before Summer can answer, Priscilla slaps a pair of handcuffs on Summer's and Indigo's wrists, and says "Doesn't matter because you'll be right behind her."
Summer says "Get them off me!"
Gaz says "No."
Indigo says "Where did you get these?"
Priscilla says "You don't want to know."
Summer starts pulling at the cuff on her wrist. "Sums, you ok?"
Summer says "Get this off me. Please!" Indido puts her free hand on Summer's arm. "Don't touch me!"
Silvain looks up and shouts "What the f**k?! Get those off her. Now!" Silvain rushes to Summer. "Didn't you hear what I said?"
Priscilla says I think half this place heard you."
"Then do it!"
Gaz says "Dude, chill. It was only a joke."
"Does it look like she's laughing?"
Summer is staring at her wrist, shaking. Indigo says "Come on, guys. Keys."
Priscilla says "There isn't any."
Silvain growls. "What? you put those on her without having the keys? What kind of idiot are you?"
Gaz says "Hey! Don't talk to her like that. There's a release button right here." Gaz goes to push the button on the cuff and as he touches Summer's hand, she screams. "Summer, what's with the banshee call?"
Summer drops to the floor, pulling Indigo with her. Indigo releases herself from the cuff and as she goes to undo the one on Summer's wrist, Silvain pushes her away and says "Leave her alone. I've got her."
Indigo says "I want to help."
"You've done enough already."
Silvain picks Summer up and she hangs loosely in his arms. "Tell me what just happened. Is she ok?"
"She'll be fine."
"What just happened? Why did she pass out?"
Silvain snaps. "Because the last person that put a pair of those on her, raped her!"
Silvain carries Summer away. Priscilla says "I feel like s**t." Indigo goes after Silvain. "Indigo, wait!"
Gaz says "Leave her."
"I am such an a*****e."
Gaz puts his arms around Priscilla. "It was my idea, but how were we to know?"
"Still?"
"Neither of them will blame you. Me maybe, but not you."
"You don't know that."
"Sure I do."
Reuben says "Well, I'm going to give you some alone time now."
Reuben walks away. Priscilla moves away from Gaz, starts rearranging the drinks on the table and says "Let's get s**t-faced."
Gaz says "Sure. What are you doing?"
"Drinking game."
"Ok. Rules?"
"As many as you can until all the glasses are empty. No hurling."
"Stakes?"
"Loser pays for the taxi home."
"And the winner?"
"Pays for breakfast."
"It's on. Go."
