Chapter 85

Chapter 85

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo knocks on Sabrina’s door. Ethan answers, jumps up and says “Momma, why are you here?”

Indigo says “Don’t you want me here?”

            “Yes.”

            “Doesn’t seem like it.”

“Are you here because of the policeman and the lawyer lady?”

“Are they here now?” Ethan nods. “Well, I’m not here for them.”

            “Really?”

“Really. I’m going to be sleeping here until your mommy’s birthday. Is that ok with you?”

“Yeah. Is Uncle Gaz staying too?”

            “No.”

            “Oh.”

“But, if we ask your mommy and grams, they might let him come play with you, if he’s not busy.”

            “I’m going to ask now.”

Ethan runs into the living room. Indigo steps inside and closes the door. Sabrina walks out of the kitchen and says, “Indigo, was that you knocking? Did Summer let you in?”

Indigo says, “Yes, and no. Ethan did.”

“How many times do we have to tell that boy? Why did you knock?”

            “This is your home.”

“In which you are welcome. No need to knock.”

“Thank you, and you’re welcome to do the same.”

“I think I should continue to knock on your door.”

            “You don’t need to.”

“But I will. Who knows what I could walk in on.” Sabrina winks. Indigo blushes. “Pair of horny teenagers.”

Summer says, “We’re not teenagers anymore. Besides, it’s the best medicine.” Summer kisses Indigo. “Hey.”

Indigo says, “Hey, Princess. Everything ok?”

            “Still can’t find him.”

            “I’m here, you’ll be safe.”

Fico says, “You guard the inside, and I’ll have units outside.”

Summer says, “I said I didn’t want that.”

“Too bad. You, Ethan and Sabrina will all be kept a watch over.”

            “What about Indigo?”

“Do you think she could be in danger?”

            “Who knows.”

Fico nods. “Then her too. See you soon, and be careful.”

Fico leaves. Indigo says “He won’t hurt me like that. He’s my brother.”

Summer says “Better safe than sorry. What if he’s got friends that would?”

Meredith says “She has a point, Indigo. Perhaps you should come back and work in the office. There’s security there.”

Indigo says “What aren’t you telling me?”

Meredith looks at Summer. Summer nods and says “She has the right to know.”

            “Know what?”

Meredith says “Drop by the office tomorrow and we’ll talk. I’ll take you off the office ban. Goodbye, ladies.”

            Meredith leaves. “Summer?”

Sabrina says “Take this upstairs, away from Ethan.”

Summer says “Yes, Mother.” Summer grabs Indigo’s hand. “Come on, Indi.”

Summer and indigo start to go upstairs. “Oh, and, girls?” Summer and Indigo look at Sabrina. “Actually talk to each other. We don’t need to hear you, shall we call it, praying?”

            Indigo blushes. “No promises.”

            Summer leads Indigo upstairs.
