Put Down the Blade

Put Down the Blade

A Poem by Rubicon
"

A pained love poem

"

My darling girl

My prairie rose

Clean as the snow

Wild as the fire

White in spirit

Red in the heart

Put down the blade

Let out your hate

Let go of pain

Hold not to grief

Look not for fear

Throw out anger

Drop the despair

Put down the blade

Do not cause pain

Do not make harm

Not to yourself

Not to my love

Every slash hurts

Every cut bleeds

Put down the blade

My own heart weeps

My own mind cries

My angel bleeds

My love in red

Your despair felt

In my own soul

Put down the blade

Every cut known

My heart hurts more

My mind is gone

My soul is wretched

Slit my spirit

My essence drained

Put down the blade

Your mind is hurt?

Your soul is cut?

You think your arms

Hurt more than me?

My life burns hot

With the panic

Put down the blade

Apprehension

 Trepidation

This foreboding

Of you alive

Is this the end?

Are you still here?

Put down the blade

Come back to me

Don’t run away

To you I look

From day to night

You haunt my dreams

You haunt my wake

Put down the blade

I saw your face

Staring at me

Today I saw

You one last time

From the newspaper

Why didn’t you

Put down the blade?
