When He Walked

When He Walked

A Poem by J.A. Stevens
"

20 line poem about the sacrifices of our savior

"
When He walked this earth
Those few brief years
He felt our longing
He knew our tears

He carried our burdens
On shoulders so frail
He bore gladly the whip
The thorn and the nail

He took to His kind heart
Those suffering with lack
To be healed by the stripes
On His flesh torn back

He gave pity and solace
To those who’d done ill
No flesh did He covet
No blood did he spill

For to lead us to glory
Did He come to this land
To bring to the Father
Every woman and man
