Ghostbusters 1984

Ghostbusters 1984

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Local cinema is playing this today.
You have to realize this will be fun.
In 1984,
when the movie finally came to my town,
   I had a choice.
It was that,
 or Gremlins.
I was getting ready for a trip to West Germany.
I would be travelling for the next month.
I chose Gremlins,
and I still love the movie.
I was lucky.
Ghostbusters was still playing when I returned.
In January,
I was able to introduce my oldest brother to the movie.
This was combined with a viewing of Dune,
 and a Sammy Hagar concert,
all wrapped up over a a birthday weekend.
Needless to say,
this will be bringing back some memories.
Time for some popcorn,
 and a few laughs.

Love the way you bundle all these cultural references to subtly refer to the unique times that came together, making this movie an unforgettable classic. Your conversational tone is easy to enjoy! Gotta love that popcorn combined with good laughs! *smile* Fondly, Margie
