Frightened

Frightened

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Do you realize how hard it is to dodge responsibilities?
  They aren't even yours!
This is where I find myself.

I have lived over fifty years,
 and after thirty or so,
I grew tired.

Life is distracting.

Fifteen years of slowly stepping away.

Foot was on the door.

Almost free.

Suddenly,
 thrown back into the mix.

At least ten years have been added.

Somebody better not steal my spot on the mountaintop.
