Every artist

Every artist

A Poem by Sail
"

Short little poem for a contest.

"
"Every artist was first an amateur." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every artist has a beginning, and a piece that they call "first"
It's usually not beautiful, it's typically the worst
Success follows disaster
Every artist was first an amateur, they had to learn it all
If they chose to just give up, that was their downfall
Victory follows loss

Ummm... it's short, but I think I got the point across.

Lovely write we all start somewhere to craft our gifts.

Very much gets the point across Julia. Had a young artist thank me or reviewing someone as "new and un-talented" as him. Nonsense. Writers are writers. Where we start is only that. Thanks for this..... and for the laugh I rec'd when I read your review on the Barbies. Good stuff to know - in case you ever DO meet THAT drunk guy with the hammer.... which was a true and actual story :)

The shortness helps get the point across. It doesn't waffle on unneccessarily, and it just says what it needs to say poetically. It really is motivational. I enjoyed the rhyme in it, it gave it a nice flow. Great short poem.

Words of both encouragement and caution. Nicely put.

You did get the point across, and it was very true. Great write.

A good poem, honest and straight to the point. With success comes failure as well. We learn from both and hope we get better.

I like the sentiment of this piece although I would be tempted to disagree, I belive in beginners luck all the way. Nicely written though.
