superstar

superstar

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

imaging a superstars retiring night

"
She knew
she waited
she wept
she pondered
she lied
to herself
of all her very own lies
the surface of the
crowd
the faces
all ashen
she turned and left
she couldn't face
the crowd
**the noise**
**the lies**
this superstar had
**died**
she would not perform
tonight
**her performance**
**her best run**
**the crowd dispersed**
**the crowd**
**all booed**
**all cried**
**they had come to see**
**their idol**
**the superstar**
**had died**
**she went off to her**
**house**
**her recluse on cliff**
**over sea**
**she poured a large wine**
**and listened to the news**
**"the worlds greatest voice**
**had ended in a boo**
**of leers**
**her days of stardom has just ended**
**she clinked her glass and**
**cheered**

Great, dramatic work Julie! Love the stark format with asterisks and words like newspaper headlines. You succeeded in painting the picture of a "superstar" who has taken her life back into her own hands. Kudos to her and you!

Thanks so much Annette
Your review was lovely
It's her utter relief not to perform again that's what I was trying to write that she had lied to herself all these years hadn't really been her

ThAnkyou for reviews
In this I wrote of any person not necessarily a superstar but one who had lived a lie if a life she finally stopped and was happy at end

The first bubble to burst is ego -fictional or not, your writing will resonate a truth to someone - nicely penned ... :-)

its not about anyone in the real world
just a work of fiction

This is a true story somewhere. The latest Diva to disappoint was Mariah, but I can't really see her being happy about being booed. I think this is timely, real and should be printed in Entertainment Weekly or something. Although I doubt their demographic is literary literate.
