Primary School reunion

Primary School reunion

A Poem by Juliespenhere.

Hi Jane she said
To old school chum
Standing there with
Wrapped bald head
Janes mouth was dry
Voice raspy quiet
Her eyes showed strange
Light there
Jane had been my closest friend
In school days in serge uniforms
of pleated prim and plum
We'd holidayed together every year
And met boys down there
As we got older
Giggling at that ocean pier
Tonight
I hugged her tight
No words were needed on that night
No pity please she said to me
Lets party like there is no tomorrow
For sorrow is not a word
In our fifty year primary school reunion
here

very sad but full of strength if friendship is anything to take solace from. Its funny how nobody really seems to have changed (in terms of their presence/persona/aura ...call it what you will) at such things.

thankyou tony for your wonderful review
This is an interesting take on reunion.. I enjoyed reading. I noticed you said primary school as opposed to elementary like they say in the States. In Nigeria its also Primary and then Secondary school before University. Although I've gotten used to refering to it as highschool now being in the States. School uniforms were mandatory as well lol.

You're welcome. Thank you for sharing.
wow, this is so sad.....my old grade school crush was someone i wanted to tell at a grade school reunion...

she never knew i liked her.....but i didn't get the chance.....she died of cancer some months before the get together.....

but that is how life is....it giveth memories...and takes away the people we love.
