Nine lives

Nine lives

A Poem by Juliespenhere.

Crazy stupid ditty

"
Crazy cat
Nine lives
He thinks
Well his days are surely
Numbered now
Said the skunk to the
Grey old kangaroo
As they sat on that
Bush track
Just tipping their furry hats
to those
That passed on by
There's mr and mrs catwhinkle
In their Sunday best
And doggone there's Samuel
The stray old cattle dog
And hey there's Trudy blue
The cockatoo
As the cat winked and livened
Up all who passed with his
Tail so pink

I dunno said cat
I reckon I've got some
Lucky days yet
He said to all
I'm courting Olivia from down
Bendy lane
And if I died without
Her kiss oh wouldn't that be
A dreadful shame

He winked and chased the skunk and
Cockatoo out to forest road
And as he checked his text from
His new love Olivia he got done run
Over from a truck
With a tipsy heavy load
As it passed quickly on that road

So even cats with lucky nine lives
Can die in lands of black old crows
With skunks and toads and river bends
And lovers lanes
And murky shallow ponds

And So it was that dreaded day
They said their fond goodbye
To crazy cat with wild pink tail
Who gave such wicked joy
To one and all

His grave was dug
His name unnamed
And all that passed
Who read his plaque
Tipped their heads in silence bent
To fiesty crazy cat with bright pink tail
Well miss you say us one and all

And they saw a sneaky pink tail
From in the bushes and flannel flowers
And jacarandas blue
They swore they saw a swishy pink tail
That looked like crazy cat they bet
Run behind that hopping kangaroo
I guess his tenth life came to pass

And in that bush he dwells forevmore
For at midnight stroke
he comes out to play
With all bush critters once so blue
His nine lives have so duly passed
But pink tails can be anything they want
Especially if it's crazy cats
Pink tail you see hopping
So close
Behind some old bush kangaroo

And so will I! Your poem is a sort of fairy tale come myth.. a creature from long ago.. his life, his love, the critters about him.. and so forth. Your phrasing has a happy bounce about it.. easy and musical to read aloud.. and whilst sad here and there, brings out the smiles.. and that's so very welcome. Think I might find a bush to live in too, seems fun and safe!!!

Not sure if we have skunks may have to change to rat

It would make an excellent story about little bushes we have here called the 'bottle-brush', which resemble tails to a degree.
I liked this very much Juliespen. :))
