to know

to know

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

a collection of TO KNOW QUOTES and my take on them in my life

"
To know you
was to love you
that was for sure
I know that now
I wish I had cherished you more
when we were together

to know what I know now
way back then
that is a mystery to me unfolding
a lesson to be learnt in life
a hard one
a recollection of ones memories
and lessons learned

to know where you stand
yes well I knew I wasn't sitting
I was standing
sometimes falling
sometimes tall
sometimes small
sometimes fainting
most times invisible

to know when to leave
well once I left
I was happy for a short interlude
not necessarily the right timing
but had to be done
eventhough a heartwrenching
bad decision
pleagues my mind to this day ...
would things be different now?

to know when to shutup
yes I will in a minute

to know ones own fate and destiny
never
that is for God to know
and deliver

to know how blessed and lucky we are
yes I do count my blessings
though sometimes forget and curse on
a bad day

to know I will return to dust
ashes to ashes dust to dust
yes
just throw me over my favourite cliff
and have a party with a view of ocean
and drink your wine
I cant drink it anymore now can I

to know where the heart is
yes endearing heart
beating like a drum
neverending heart
right next to my liver
sometimes a trife enlarged
red heart
strange heart
loving heart
broken heart
needy heart

to know ones own mind
oh yes I knew it was my mind
but sometimes others
had left their mark on my mind
it is only now in my latter years
that I really got know my own mind
that is sometimes
though sadly more often than not
I lost my mind

to know your place
this is a good one
my place is to be good
to serve
to think to write
to be invisible
to not be a trouble to anyone
to just exist

to know the value of money
oh yes
the value of spending
the value of saving no
the value of getting it
working hard to earn it
yes I have learnt that money
goes quick as soon as I earn it

to know what life is about
yes life is good
life can be happy
life is great
life is sad
life is unexpected
life is unpredictable
our lives will not go on endlessly
this is sad I feel

finally to know when to stop
yes I have decided
this is the end of this insignificant
stupid piece of I know quotes

thanks for reading cheers

"To finally know when to stop" loved this line and this poem was amazing, incredible, resonating. I doubt we're ever on time in terms of when we should have done something but what counts is what we would do, what we had done, not just what we could have done. Great ink, love this writing.

To know that in the grand grand scheme of things we know nothing is the greatest knowledge of all, I feel.

I like this Juliespen - it has a familiarity to it that I've not seen since... lol
Well penned.

Life is a lesson on the go, sadly the lessons learnt are a bit late. Hindsight brings regret yet much wisdom too. But as you say...Cheers!

Thank you diva for your earnest review
Your words are a feast, how they fill us with wisdom, with the aching truth that comes with life and living, and give us glimpses of the world found in knowing. There is understanding that comes from learning, either in books or from experience. Seems you've been open to both. :)

thanks so much
I don't deserve that but thankyou so much for stopping by xx
So not insignificant or stupid dear Julie! Insightful, honest, recounting of life’s “to know”s in each distinctive, rhythmic verse. Very personal, heart-felt reflections of the good and bad experiences you have had in your life that together paint a portrait of a loving, sensitive, giving, vital, trusting and good woman. I feel your regrets and your vulnerabilities which make you even more warm and real, though much too harsh on yourself. I also feel your strength. You are one in a million my friend and I am honored both to read you and to know you. Excellent, poignant write. Loved this Julie!
