A Rather Peculiar Thing

A Rather Peculiar Thing

A Poem by Annie
"

The more you take; the more it brings.

"
The mind is a rather peculiar thing -
The more you take, the more it brings.
The more you stuff in, the less that leaves,
Like filing a file with paper in sheaths.

The more that you learn, the smarter you come,
And loose the fillers, like 'oh' and 'um.'
You also extend your vocab no end,
Learning new words like 'send' and 'bend.'

You also find that words sound odd,
Like mile and isle and sod and cod.
Confusion is easy to have when you spell,
Like they and hay and well and quell.

The mind is rather peculiar, I say,
So open that brain and start learning today!
