Travel trials

 

The man in the moon

Saw a cow fly by

Doing the milkcow blues boogie

And flying looked so cool

He thought he’d give it a try

 

The little dog laughed

When he stumbled and fell

Down into heartbreak hotel

Now he is a lonely man

Cuz he’s so far off track

He wonders if he will

Ever get back

 

When the dish and the spoon

In their Chantilly lace

Heard on the grapevine

Then saw him there

Crying in the gloom

They asked

Are you lonesome tonight

So to chase away his moody blues

Gave him a pair of

Blue suede shoes

And asked that they’d be

Returned to sender

 

An old hound dog

With a suspicious mind

And Spanish eyes

Named danny boy

Had him follow that dream

It was now or never

Through stormy weather

Through the Kentucky rain.

And the wayward wind

To take that bridge over troubled waters

Taking a night rider

On a mystery train

With its big wheels rollin

Down the rock island line

Which did shake rattle and roll

From the loc-o-motion   

Back to the blue moon

And he’s never coming back

It had been too much

He was all shook up

okay, two things....first of all the title got me because ever since my early days in Vermont, i love cows and still do...
but i grew up in the 50's with elvis..my godparents bought me all of his singles.
such a fan of his early days...i still think of him with the jordanaires....also the other titles and references in this are so well infused...The Moody Blues...a favorite band who finally got into the Hall like they should have years ago...and that Locomotion...i met little eva once at an oldies show...such a sweet lady...we were dancing to that song in front of the stage and she was nodding and cheering ...
a great trip back for me with this poem..thanks for that journey.

I missed all that with work and kids but I found their music enjoyable.
Still, Elvis and his era are what I relate to. Such a powerful voice (and that hairstyle!!)

That is funny because I despise commercials and record almost everything I watch, so I can fast forward past, but like an ever growing pimple, advertising, even subliminal in stature, presents its p***y product again

Good old Elvis left us so many songs

Elvis was and still is wonderful. I wrote a piece (not nearly as good as this) based on leonard Cohen songs. Some songs just never leave you , even years after they were popular you still remember them .
