An Ant AffairA Poem by john l smithan ant affair
I watch them as they pass Little black things that crawl Carrying nature’s harvest And often that’s not all
Just below the window sill Along the outside wall Down beneath the entrance door Straight along the hall
Beeline toward the kitchen Up onto cabinets in a row Into where the food is kept The little dears all go
With contents finally removed From their never-ending effort It is to another foodstuff search That they then go to subvert
But RAID brought a rapid end To their unwanted invasion And now we have the waiting hour Till another foodstuff transgression
