Ears

Ears

A Poem by Sapphire Naylor

I have ears
I can hear
All the nasty things
You say

You think I'm oblivious
You think I'm naive
I'm smarter than I seem
I can see through the lies
All the wrongness
All the fake

You spread rumors
Like deadly tumors
I'm tired of the hurt
I'm sick of feeling like dirt

I'm smart
I'm beautiful
I'm worth it
And yet you believe it's ok
To make me feel like
I'm just another freak
Ugly
Worthless

They have finally convinced me
They lead me to believe
I am nothing
Have a wonderful life
Goodbye forever
I hope you feel
You are worth everything

You spread rumors

It seemed like poet observed a negative tendency of the world to gossip, fabricate stories, create rumors. This is relevant topic and very glad poet observed it, even the walls can hear and interpret, so better not to use lingua or tongue for some one one to get hurt, it is not easy as humans are holding to peripheral level of functioning, not footing on great role models we had, poet saying goodbye for ever for those negative talking, that is a very positive and practical approach, Sami Khalil's poem Lingua can ne related to this poem's message, enjoyed it

Thank you! I always appreciate your thoughts :)
I love the way one can express ones self through writing and I love how writing can be an outlet when we need we need it the most. I read this poem a few times over. I think it is beautiful. When you think that a photograph is a moment taken from time, a poem, written like this one, is a captured feeling to be remembered...who needs to keep a journal when poetry is written like this.
