Musical Escape

Musical Escape

A Poem by Kimmee Jean
"

I was day dreaming in a class

"

I jan the earphones in

And begin to lose myself

In a pool of notes, pitches, vocals and lyrics

Forgetting my perception of reality

I enter a dreamworld, fabricated by

Guitars, basses, drumsets and Keyboards

I press the PLAY button

And I was far away from cruel realism

Only to run in extasy of fantasies

I open my eyes and watch

People talk while voices scream in my head

They laugh when someone is crying

They whisper when someone is singing

They yell when someone is hummming

THey talk when noone is speaking

But the song ends, the CD concludes,

The batteries die but it doesn't matter

I knew my escape wouldn't be forever

I knew reality would come back to haunt me

I knew the music would end

And reality comes crashing down

Crap.

I like stanza three the most :) Great work.

Even if it's only for a little while it's nice to get away from the world, if only in hearing. I must admit I share the last sentiment very often in my own life.

Amen! Music Is what runs this generation, and I completely agree that it is how we escape. It also defines a large pert of who we are...This one is excellent!
