A Poem by Justin Wright

They say we're not allowed to be sad

Someone, somewhere is sadder than you

So does that mean you can't be happy

Because someone is happier too?

Damn, bro, I like. It strikes me as a witty little F you to those who think they can tell us what to feel.

Wow I really like this poem, so simple and short. Yet filled with such emotion and gets it's point across clearly. It's also a great question to a common statement we hear so often. "You have no right to be sad, someone is doing worse than you!" I love it!!!

I don't like rules. If I want to be happy or sad. Should be our decision. A nice poem. Create thoughts and reaction. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Very good question and very true. I personally would say make your own happiness regardless of the happiness of others or what they say. Just like the question, harsh but true, and straight to the point. Lovely.
