Poem from Poetry Class Spring 2015 “Chat Has Ended”

A Poem by Katethepoet

                        “Chat Has Ended”

Comedians spill humor

Like they invented the truth

I hear they build armor

Like they invented that too

Jokes begin predictably

Usually with a bar

There’s a guy

Or sometimes a girl

Or maybe both

And they both want something

Sometimes they get  it

But they usually don’t .

Replace the word bar

With chat room

And joke with girl

 keep the rest the same

It’s still funny .

Hey

(Hi )

Come here often ?

(I’ve been around)

(Same. Describe yourself?)

 (Why?)

(Ok, can u describe yourself?)

(Or better yet let me guess)

OK go ahead.

(Let me guess you have long, blonde hair)

Hmm…

(And blue eyes)

Hmm...

(You seem tall, I ‘m guessing about 5’9)

(You sound absolutely perfect)

Her brown eyes glistening

Those mud pie eyes

They blend in with her mahogany skin

And her not straight hair

Jungle like hair

And the stunted stilts of legs

That carry her

(Now won’t you send a pic?)

Sure.

*Picture sent*

*Picture opened*

(Chat has ended)

And jokes have a way of setting themselves up

Just like comedians sometimes build armor

As the punchline goes

It’s still funny.
