kill your girl child !

kill your girl child !

A Poem by Kajal Sharma
"

It is satirical poem based on condition of women in India

"
Kill your girl child
Kill her because this world is wild
Kill her because there is no place for her in society
Kill her because she is going to be eve teased
Kill her because she might be raped
Kill her because she has no choice of marriage
Kill her because she might fall in love
Kill her because she has to wear what wont seduce men
Kill her because her husband might beat her
Kill her because she might get divorced
Kill her because she go mad out of depression
Kill her because she might depend on you or him
Kill her because she might study and be wiser than her man
that he might have inferiority complex
As she has no right and say in her decisions
It is high time to understand
that she might be a stain
Kill her before it pains
Kill your girl child...!!

Kazal, your frustration and anger have correctly identified the inhumane attitude of our society.
Let's denounce all culprits(both men and women) who are responsible for such rude treatments
to girls.
Let's also support those people who are sincerely striving to overcome the situation.

I was raised in a religion that taught that men are the only ones that hold the special priesthood from God....that men are the only ones able to be the leaders who speak as the prophets....and that we women should not get educated but stay home and raise babies. I am so thankful to have outgrown such beliefs and have moved on..... but as I look at women still trapped in that religion my heart sighs heavily. Thank you for this write that so aptly describes the plight of women. You would think that by now it would have all changed....but it seems that every day I encounter another women are less attitude. Bravo for you for pointing this out through your art.

thank you Divya..
A sad poem. It is sad when children are a burden. Should be the best days of our life. I liked the honest and directness of the words. Thank you for sharing the powerful poetry.

It's hard being a girl and getting accepted in a society that was once built upon the entire idea of sexism. You're poem really brings out the emotion that a girl is most expected to face upon encountering anything in her life regarding her family, the way she dresses and the way she behaves. It really raises an awareness amongst all so good job in writing it.

Its something we take for granted in the west these days... sex selective abortion affects a lot of Indian families, and while its horrific, sometimes you think it can be for the best for them. What will it take to change the mindset?

The position of women in society as under men as opposed to in tribal societies is often blamed on Abrahamic religions, but its a problem both in Hindu and Yazidi society too. Maybe it goes right back to the Aryans...

Women need to support each other. It seems they are constantly attacking each other and giving men free passes.
