The Flames

The Flames

A Story by K.

Bright, licking flames. Then black.

Death is a peculiar thing, but living is even stranger. I think of how he stood there while the flames engulfed his body; suicide.

Every dream I have about it, the same thing happens, but I hold a bucket of water- small but somehow I know it’s large enough to douse the flames filling the room. It doesn’t ever leave my hands. It has the power of saving him, but it stays.

I still have the scar of my wrist where those licking flames threatened to swallow me, to climb up my arm and then down my body; I almost let them, but no never mind, then it all went black and I woke up with this scar.

I find a glimpse of some fascinating storyarcs in your words. Liked the choice of words especially the way you write. so short. simple. & intriguing reading. The length of your stories're what that's impressed me to the fullest. Time saving to me! (lol) Most of your writes're just written with an open flesh of your bare heart which I find very alluring to be read... with time. Quite interesting. Life's all full of wounds given by love so I guess, dying in love's peculiar but "living" for love's way strange enough especially for the love that's already being mistaken. Your insights're very deep. Very mysterious. Liked the taste of words you've got!

Thank you so so much! I appreciate you reading and commenting!
I don't know how you could improve on this. It is well written. Now i understand why you liked my story 'Misunderstanding' so much. Mystery! What is happening here? What is the back story? But I'm worried that if you tell me, it will ruin it. I love mysterious stories like this.
