Lay Me Down

Lay Me Down

A Poem by Kate

Lay me down beneath a great oak tree,
rest my body against the trunk.
Let my spirit find the sun,
for in the dark you'll find it sunk.
Let the tears stream down my face,
and watch them fall into the earth.
They will nourish the sturdy wood,
that bears so many broken hearts at its hearth.
Let my voice carry in the wind,
speaking words to the unknown.
Calling out for my one and only,
gathering the seeds of love it's sewn.
Let him find me in the moon light,
as I gaze upon a star.
For my body will be cold,
and my spirit will be far.
