Crimson Sky

Crimson Sky

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

To the depths of ebbing sunset-sky horizon;
vivid coral and gold echo
within a rainbow's wash across heaven's expanse.

I pull away in thought,just for a moment
Pondering,until my attention is again pulled back
to the above spacious grace of God's glorious art-piece.

These eyes behold joy's beauty once again.

Heaven's panorama; Glow upon glow,
 almost a pulse matches my heart.
This soul longs to fly into Heaven's blazing glory
 just for a while, amidst rainbow layers falling upward!

Precious is the gift of ready sky being held at no cost;
simply to accept, to will, to wait;
Till again come glimpses of God's presence
in the thrill of the next sunset!

In every word, the beauty- the breathtaking magnificence- of the evening sky has been captured. The peculiar, unmatched character of this time of the day, pervading the whole piece, is utterly captivating. The routinely sunsets and sunrises tell us something about life- it goes on. One moment, we may be the happiest creatures on the planet and the next we moment we may become the most forlorn structure of flesh, blood and bone in the world. Excellent wording. Keep writing.

Well done, Kathy. There is nothing that matches a sunset or sunrise for glorious colours is there? You've written a brilliant piece illustrating that sunset with words. A good write.

I love how you've described my favorite time of the day. Just to sit and behold all of the beauty in nature, so freely given to us mortals. "I pull away in thought for just a moment, pondering, till my attention is again pulled back" is great because these scenes inspire our whimsy and almost force us to dream. But to sit in the moment and just WATCH; that is where the magic happens. And it certainly inspires you to create your own beauty in your art. I love your poems.
