Beautiful Maple Girl

Beautiful Maple Girl

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

One last visit as fall departs into coming winter.

"
My beautiful maple girl, you are weeping.  Tears descending; softest
touch of lifting breeze, sends  your tears falling-falling. You know  how
to let go of the past. I remember summers brilliance and every busy
long day, working my gardens.

You are the message of extended autumn, "rest, contemplate, and
give yourself to introspection." Shorter-shorter; hours, minutes, days, even
the deep jewel tones within bough's  remaining deep stained leaves say
"contain you precious thoughts and dream."

The window pane will be my lens as I sit by fire's hearth comforting.
Basking within as the cool mist without spreads itself, slowly thoroughly, briskly.

Precious moisture, sponging, grasses recently dry as paper, now luscious -verdant.
To lie in it, but no; 'to wet, to cold! Late autumn my ear attends to your fading last
trills twinkling into my heart. You precede applying paint to last touches of this
magical season's portrait.

I agree with tabby, you're gifted. I love escpecially nature and environment poetry.
I also love the Maple trees. I have silver maples, one sugar maple, three or four Japanese maples (don't you just love how they look like reefer?) and I love this poem.

Please keep up the great work.

You have a talent with words. This piece is so tantalizing! It's slow and comforting. The beautiful pictures you 'paint' with your words!
I love fall anyway but this made me long for it.
I also love how you personified the tree as if it's your friend! Your admiration for nature really shines through here! I really enjoyed this piece it reminds me of a place I once called home! Awesome!!

You are most welcome.
Fall must be so beautiful where you live...The picture painted of Nature is timeless and exquisite and speaks to me as much of the external changes as the inner transitions taking place within us with each passing year of life. Thank you for sharing Kathy.

Thank you for such a spiritually empowering message, dear Kathy.
So many images emerge from your imaginative pen, Kathy. The changing colours, the falling foliage, the chill of the dew. But expressed in terms that have so much colour, that the brightness of spring seems much closer.
I admire and envy your poetically descriptive skill. Norman
