Snow Drops

Snow Drops

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Iv'e been wanting to write a long awaited poem of coming Spring since late winter. My husband and I noticed a robin had built a nest on our front door light. No front yard work for us.

"

Snow Drops

Snow drops with your snow shine,

 dear crocus, dainty grace.

Hope's -Healing-heart-song

 midst shadows cold,

 melt the wind and rain.

Tonight’s anticipation,

of flowers coming soon,

 I sit by hearth of flame.

 Counting the days of the calendar

every worker bee arrives anew.

Fruit -Tree bouquets,

Sing their fragrance,

 first cherry blossoms true.

Robin upon front door lantern,

built her nest,

 laid four eggs blue,

No more waiting

 in hibernation

Sunshine playful calls!

Peel off the layers.

Throw off the cloak.

look to the dark soil sweet.

Days stretching longer,

pull every creature along;

 let winter gently flee.

Faith

-Rare, fragrant, wondrous;

welcome possibilities.

My sigh, lye’s waiting;

 to crown midst glory.

Queen- verdant- spring,

you rule!

Did a little editing and the punctuation may not be perfect. Took our the few smaller font lines. Thank you to those who were so kind and seemed to like it.

Ah' 'Erithacus Rubecula' how amazing is that. We had a swallow build its nest around a naked light bulb last year just outside our porch in our little mountain hide away in Bulgaria. But enough of that.... What an absolute delight to stumble upon these fine words in mid November, which is my least favourite month and as I too, eagerly anticipate all that the coming Spring promises......Bravo Kathy........Neville

Your cute! Blessings to ya and see you next time.
I know it August - but came across this and loved it! The imagery, content and nostalgic poetic theme throughout, to me was sentimentally charming … :-)

Hi Kathy,
It's winter where I am now and it's great. But here the winters are very mild, like a long spring. The way your poem documents the returning plants and animals makes it a great read, and the alliteration hopes- hearts- healing was a lot of fun.
I see you're a lover of nature and its always great just to take it all in and experience the beauty.
Great to read your work.

I feel the great anticipation of a wondrous season, an embrace of faith's possibilities and coming of age of Nature's glory which glorifies Him. Those small inhabitants( birds, bees...) of this Earth of ours make a big difference in our connection and playful calls. An excellent one, Cathy and God bless...:)..............

All true. You are welcome gracefully...:)................
Just saw the word snow there, and panicked.
Thought i'd went to sleep and woke up in December.
I suppose in a way, we're all worker bees. Spring usually means Paint. Though i suppose in a way, it's all colours.
