Gentleman

Gentleman

A Story by Katie Stones
"

A very short story about a lovely death...

"

Death welcomed her graciously.

He escorted her lovely body, though still limp and ashen like a thwarted rose, through the elegant Doors of At Last and into a regal patio which blushed with the scarlet charm of a perpetual dusk. There was no sound more alluring than the soft flutter of the girl’s last breaths echoing through her clay-coloured lips and into the ear of the Grim Reaper’s angelic form.

“About time...” she gasped with immense effort, an unmistakable trace of giddy laughter tainting her words. Death did not reply, but cradled her broken back with elongated ivory fingers which tenderly traced her twisted spine up and down again.
