Faith (Loss of)

Faith (Loss of)

A Poem by kaylahardy120
"

We're on the poetry unit in my creative writing class, and I remembered how much I enjoyed writing poetry, so here's an attempt.

"
Faith can live inside us,
or it can be hung on a wall.

A wooden cross with
a distorted metal figure.

I feel its energy
whenever I enter the room, and

My mom bows her head
each time she passes.

I avoid the metal man,
my eyes averted.

She gives it to me;
a going away gift.

I keep it in a box,
down in my basement.

I feel no emptiness,
I'm still alive.

The cross will not hang
on my walls tonight.

Featured Review

A short but elegant poem expressing a strange topic, Faith. This seems like a rejection of someone else's Faith as a means to establish your own or just the right not to.

Then again I'm Agnostic and have never really had faith in anything. Still, it's a nice poem that serves as a somewhat unique mouthpiece.

Good job!

You can carry faith with you anywhere inside you.you dont need statues, dolls or figurines to remind you of what you believe and the morals you have learned.well done and I hope others will have an opportunity to read this as well
