You Gave Up On Me

You Gave Up On Me

A Poem by Kaylee Marlin

You Gave Up On Me

She walks around blending into the walls

She hides behind her hair to avoid eye contact

She runs from the pain of her past

She fights to stay away from the sorrow of her future

She slowly dies as the days go by

She cries every day and night

She lives all alone in this world

She can't be saved at all

The devil has a grip on her soul

God cannot reach her no more

There's no turning back for her

She's slowly fading away into the darkness

Where were you when she needed you most

You were nowhere around

She was lost and now she's gone

It's all your fault but you still don't cry

You watched as the dead dragged her underground

You stood there when she asked you for help

You gave up on her and couldn't wait for her to die

You got your wish but it's just a matter of time

You're going to die today on your drive home

You're going to feel the pain she felt once before

She will be there watching it all

And you'll ask her to save you

As if you didn't just send her to her death

But all she'll do is watch

Until it's your turn to die

I absolutely adore this poem. It has this beautiful flow...this raw mixture of emotions. This line captured my attention - "You're going to die today on your drive home"...whoa!

I don't talk very much. I am a quiet person when I'm around people I don't know or don't like. There's very few people I feel comfortable talking to. I don't like my dad at all. My mom and I are on un.. more..
